Ghana Chirano Gold Mining Power Plant and Syngas Generated Steel Structure

ZHSS plans to develop the 22MW power facility onsite at Chirano to deliver 15.5MW of power on a continuous basis at 98% availability together with a Ghana based power plant company.

The Total Tariff will be set at $0.147/kWh for the first 3 years and $0.135/kWh thereafter. The Chirano Facility will be sited on a 100m by 150m tract of land provide by the mining owner on their mining lease. The Chirano Facility shall run on Anthracite Coal obtained from USA in the first 3 years with a gradual switch to 50% Biomass beginning in the 4th year. This technology can generate CDM credits which can be redeemed by owner.

The Chirano Facility will consist of five individual interconnected systems. Each system is essential in thereliable delivery of power to the owner:

Fuel Storage System
Syngas Generation System
Syngas Treatment System
Power Generation System
Absorption Chilling System

Beginning in the 4th Year of the Operation Phase when Biomass should be at 50% of total fuel consumption, the landed cost of fuel at the Chirano Facility should be ~ $5.0/MMBTU (50% Anthracite Coal at $6.0/MMBTU + 50% Biomass Briquettes at $4.0/MMBTU). This will result in a Total Tariff of $0.130/kWh. We have begun the implementation of the Chirano Facility and are on course to meet the project objectives.
