Introduction

Leasure Center Building with Castellated H Beam Steel Frame ,UK

It was fantastic to be up in United Kingdom to see the progress on site for ZHM Huawu Steel's project.

The steel frame is nearly finished with roof Steel Castellated Beam Frame , Thermal Insulated Roof cladding and Side Wall cladding and Reinforced Steel Deck Composite precast floors and Steel stairs to go in before works start on the RC pool structure and ground floor slabs.

The Specialty of this project is the utilitize of the Castellated Steel Beam (CSB), or refered to as Honey Comb H-beam, Honeycomb-section beam, or Cellular Beam Steel Structure.

1. Castellated H-Beam

A castellated beam is a beam style where an I-beam is subjected to a longitudinal cut along its web following a specific pattern.

The purpose is to divide and reassemble the beam with a deeper web by taking advantage of the cutting pattern.

There are situations on construction sites, when load bearing constructions need to be made more lightweight. This can be achieved by optimizing the factory produced steel beams. Castellated beams refer to the type of beams which involve expanding a standard rolled steel section in such a way that a predetermined pattern is cut on section webs and the rolled section is cut into two halves. The two halves are joined together by welding and the high points of the web pattern are connected together to form a castellated beam.

Our company has studied and made calculations for the production of 4 options:

Metal consumption in castellated beam is for 20-30% less than in a regular rolled beam, which means reducing the cost for 10-18%. Additional labor and cutting/welding costs are rather low.

Castellated beams in construction are used as columns and pillars, ceiling elements and farms, space systems. Castellated beams offer advantages like flexibility, reduced weight, space and aesthetics, while lowering costs.

We are ready to consider separately each Project and

offer a solution how to make Your load bearing constructions lightweight.

2. Cellular H-Beam

Cellular H-beam is a further development of the traditional castellated beam. The advantage of the steel beam castellation process is that it increases strength without adding weight, making both versions an inexpensive solution to achieve maximum structural load capacity in building construction.

The difference between cellular beam and castellated beam is the visual characteristic. A cellular beam has round openings (circular pattern) while the castellated beam has hexagonal openings (hexagonal pattern), both of which are achieved by a cutting and welding process.Cellular beams are usually made of structural steel, but can also be made of other materials. The cellular beam is a structural element that mainly withstands structural load laterally applied to the axis of the beam, and influences the overall performance of steel framed buildings. The type of deflection is mainly done by bending.
